We
would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support
of The Black Pound. Since this website began back in November 2006,
we have grown from strength to strength. What started as a hobby is
beginning to take over our lives. Visitors to website, continues to
rise each month at a phenomenal rate. So much so that we are now developing
a series of new sections to keep you coming back for more. Watch this
space!!
As
a country, the UK is becoming more multicultural by the day and the
black culture has a lot to offer to the mix. The website is here for
people from all walks of life who embrace the Afro-Caribbean culture,
people, music and food.
We
strive to promote our positive attributes, get people talking, networking
and trading together. The Black Pound enables us all trade online for
specialist Afro-Caribbean and general products and services quickly
and safely.
Our
Aims
The Black Pound has always aimed to link businesses with the wider community
from a more personal angle. Rather than just building countless directories
of businesses the length and breadth of the country, we carry out personal
checks on the business/website, in an attempt to find out what they
are about and how the business can help you. We do this so we can be
more assured in what we add to our site.
We
believe all small/medium businesses need as much exposure as possible,
not only amongst the Afro-Caribbean communities but on a national scale.
We are NOT biased on just promoting
Afro-Caribbean owned businesses after all; a good business is a good
business.
One
of our first ever partners was Head2Toez,
where you can access Afro Hair products even if areas lacking in specialist
hair outlets. Now we have a definitive list of online afro hair product
websites and an even bigger directory of Hairdressers
& Barber shops across the UK.
Equally,
Afro Caribbean food is one our best and for some strange reason, closely
guarded secrets. Again we have built up a national directory of Restaurants
& Takeaways throughout the UK where you can enjoy Afro-Caribbean
cuisine at its best.
Online Shopping
We continue to attract some of the world’s top brands to the website.
We have so many brands to work with that there isn’t enough space
to advertise them all on the site. With brand names such as: iTunes,
Evisu, Nike, Virgin Holidays, Rocawear, Phunk Fashion and Western Union,
to name but a few, you can see why we are so happy with our progress.
However we are not just stopping here … we continue to search
out all the top brands and reputable websites for your convenience.
A
full list of our approved shopping partners is available
here.
Don’t
worry we don’t just promote the big brands. Small independent
shops are the backbone of our community and deserve our promotion. If
you have a business and would like to get it listed on the website send
us your details now.
Yabba
Foods – Traditional and Authentic Caribbean recipes
Today we can now officially launch a product and business which
has been in production for over 10 years selling in Farmers markets,
craft fairs, and also organising their own events. Yabba Foods is produced,
bottled, labelled and dispatched through internet mail order from their
production plant in Sheffield.
Owner,
Stephanie Brown has taken this business from strength to strength. We
contacted Stephanie and now we can with mutual support take Yabba Original
Family Recipes to The Black Pound and beyond. We aim to work with Yabba
to grow the brand. Yabba deserves to be supported. Over the coming months
Yabba will be featured on the site.
